Hello Everyone –

Hope you are enjoying the winter.  With the dire ice storm predictions in January, we rescheduled the bowl-a-thon to February 4.  We had a smaller turn-out than last year, but everyone seemed to have a good time, and the Old Water Tower had a good night.  Thank you to everyone who came out and either bowled, supported the bowlers, bought 50/50 tickets or merchandise, or made a donation to the Tower.

Since the last blog, we have received $500 from Papa Vito’s, in Millstadt.  Thank you to everyone who dined at Papa Vito’s on December 20, and especially to Papa Vito’s for their donation!!  Mariachi’s Mexican Restaurant, in Millstadt, will be holding their second restaurant night for the Tin Man on May 23 from 4-9 p.m.  Please mark your calendars now, and join us for another tasty way to support the Tin Man.

We are now in the process of planning the third annual trivia night, which will be on March 25 at St. James Parish Center, 423 W. Madison St., in Millstadt.  We are getting some very interesting silent auction items.  I am always amazed at what is donated for a silent auction.  More updates will be coming in future blogs.  So, please check with your friends about forming a team, and learning some useless information that will also help the Tin Man.

I hope all of the area runners have begun training for the first ever Millstadt Half Marathon/5-K race for the Water Tower on June 4.  Don’t forget to resister at www.finallapracing.com  Sign-up before March 1 and save $5.

Thank you IGA shoppers!!  We have now submitted 10,500 bar codes to IGA headquarters.  I talked to someone at IGA recently, and was pleasantly surprised to learn that the Friends of the Old Millstadt Water Tower is one of the top participants in the IGA Hometown Label program – all because of our loyal supporters.  So, please keep clipping those IGA bar codes and bringing them to Millstadt IGA!!  I empty the collection box at Milltadt IGA the second last day of the month, every month.

We have now completed the first year of the five-year agreement with the Village of Millstadt, and we have raised 25% of the needed funds to get the Tower repainted.  If you have been considering making a donation, please do so!!  We are set-up to receive on-line donations right from this website.  Please check out the “Support Shop”, and then look for the “Donate” button.  And, you can always send a check, payable to “Friends of the Old Millstadt Water Tower”, and mail it to P. O. Box 335, Millstadt, IL  62260.  Donations are deductible, if you itemize your deductions.  No donation is too small or too large!!

Okay – that’s all the news for now.  Please remember that if you want to see the Tin Man continue watching over Millstadt, we need your help!!  If everyone works together, we’ll get the Tower repainted and have a landmark we can all be truly proud of!!
