Hello & Greetings from the Chairman of Friends of the Old Millstadt Water Tower.  This column is the first of what I hope will be a monthly blog.  March is the anniversary month for the Friends.  We officially organized in March, 2013 for the sole purpose of restoring and preserving the Old Millstadt Water Tower, Millstadt’s most visible landmark.  We’ve had “quite a ride” over that three-year period, and have accomplished much more than anyone had envisioned!!

Now that we have finally signed a contract with the Village of Millstadt, who will remain the owner of the Tower, we have a timeline with which to work.  We have five years to raise the needed funds to have the Tower sandblasted and painted.  As one local businessman once said, “You better get busy!!”  And, that’s exactly what we intend to be doing.

You can help, and we need your help.  The Tower is for everyone who sees its value.  Join our organization – annual dues are only $12.  Come to our fundraisers.  Next up is our second annual trivia night/silent auction on April 2 at the St. James Parish Center, 423 W. Madison St.  Reserve a table at millstadttinman@gmail.com.  On April 23 the Illinois Trekkers Volkssport Club is sponsoring the “Old Tin Man” Walk in Millstadt.  Come out to Millstadt, get some fresh air and exercise, and enjoy seeing Millstadt (and the Tin Man) up close and personal!!

Donations are always welcome, and gratefully appreciated.  Remember, we are a 501 (c) 3 charity.  Mail checks to:

or go to Paypal at this website.  We’ll try to keep the information current on Facebook and the website.

Thanks for your interest, and let’s all work together to “Save the Tower”!!
